Company Health and Safety Compliance Test:

Companies are required to have their Health and Safety in place in terms of the Requirements of the Health and safety Act. Use this compliance test, to test the general compliance within the business. This is just a general test and the requirements may vary from business to business. This test gives small companies insight into the question whether they are currently complying in terms of Health and safety requirements in South Africa.

Company Health and Safety Compliance Test:

Does the Company have a Health and Safety Plan?(Required)
Does the Company have an Emergency Plan?(Required)
Does the Company comply by having an up to date Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Policy?(Required)
Has the Company supplied the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the the qualifying employees?(Required)
If the employees have been supplied with the required PPE, have they completed a register acknowledging receipt of the PPE?(Required)
Has the Company conducted a Health and Safety Risk Assesment?(Required)
Does the Company have the required amount of fire extinguishers on premises?(Required)
Has it been serviced in the current calendar year?(Required)
Is the Company using LP-gas? Does the Company poses a valid Certificate of Compliance (COC installation certificate)? if the answer to any of the 2 questions are no, then tick NO.(Required)
Are there enough first-aid kits available on the premises of the Company to cover the amount of employees? (if you are unsure about whether you have to have more than 1 first-aid kit, then you should answer NO.)(Required)
Does any employee have the required valid first-aid certificate?(Required)

If the answers to all the questions were positive, i.e. the answers were all YES, it entails that there is a posibility that the company is in compliance with the Health and Safety Requirements stated in the OHS Act.

Please take note that this test is general of nature, and only tests the company on specific aspects of compliance in terms of the regulations and requirements of the OHS Act.

This test has been developed to alert the company to the requirements of being compliant in terms of Health and Safety requirements.

Non-compliant:

Should any answer have been presented in the negative, this entails that the company is not in compliance with the regulatios and requirements of the OHS Act.

This will entail that, even if the company has a Health and Safety file, it be reviewed and brought up to date.

A failure to have a file or to keep it up to dare with all requirements for your company may result in fines from the Department of Labour.
