• Keep the whistle in a safe and easily accessible place.

• Ensure all necessary safety signs are in place.

• An emergency evacuation plan must be available on the wall and safety signs must be clearly visible at all times. A clear plan on how to exit the building must be displayed.

• A fire drill must be done at least once every 6 months with the staff.

A record of all fire drills must be kept on site.

• No smoking signs must be displayed.

• A First Aid box must be available and stocked at all times.

• At least one staff member must have valid first aid training.

• Fire equipment must be serviced once every year, or after it has been used.

• Fire extinguishers and a blanket must be readily available.
